Design

Department of Design

The Department of Design offers creative students a comprehensive range of challenging, contemporary and career-relevant programs. These programs develop strong presentation and visual communication skills, and encourage creativity, versatility, depth of knowledge and research.

Design is about solving problems and making things communicate, stimulate, enlighten, entertain and look good.

In the first year, undergraduate students engage in a wide range of design experiences which cover the major fields of design practice. This allows students to identify their special skills and interests before choosing their main focus of study from the areas of Graphic Design, Illustration, Design Photography, Product and Furniture Design, Creative Advertising Design and Multimedia Design. In addition to design practice students will gain good research and investigation skills, experience working in a team environment, and skills in communicating effectively in various media. All members of our teaching staff are active design practitioners with national and international industry experience.
